About the Job

We have a new role for a highly creative, commercially aware Designer with experience of children’s fiction design to work across our successful and rapidly growing fiction list. The successful candidate will join our team on a full-time basis, working in our London office near London Bridge.
The designer will work with a wide range of illustrators and will design, from concept stage to final files for production, covers and inside pages for a range of titles, from chapter books to middle grade fiction, both stand-alone and series titles, and from time to time to will support the two senior designers with work on their titles.
At Nosy Crow we’re proud of our design team and of the design quality of our books. We aim to make Nosy Crow an environment where designers truly thrive, where they can do their best work, where they are listened to, and where they feel part of the whole company and of our decision-making. We are a small, close team here at The Crow’s Nest, working in a friendly, highly creative and professional environment and we need a team player who is willing to muck in, particularly during busy times.
The designer will report to the Head of Design but will work closely with other members of the Nosy Crow team, particularly the editorial staff, to produce child-focused, parent-friendly, high-quality books.
Candidates will have experience in children’s fiction publishing, and will have worked on both illustrated and non-illustrated titles. We are looking for someone who is bursting with ideas and creative energy.
A high level of proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator programmes, excellent proven book design and typographic skills, and a love – and knowledge – of children’s book illustration are essential, along with good written and spoken communication skills, and the ability to work to a deadline.
Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK.
To apply, please send a covering letter explaining why you’re right for Nosy Crow and for the job, together with your CV and examples of your design and typography work to Nia Roberts, Head of Design (nia@nosycrow.com).
Closing date for applications is 11.00pm on 12 December 2018.
