Senior Publicist
£30 - £49
Central London (Clerkenwell)

About the Job

Usborne Publishing, the largest and most successful independent children’s publisher in the UK, is looking for an experienced, motivated and creative Senior Publicist to join its busy Marketing & Publicity team.
Usborne publishes over 300 beautiful, fascinating, innovative books every year, and has nearly 3000 titles in print in the UK. We also have a hugely interesting and talented staff: founder and MD Peter Usborne; a team of brilliant in-house writers; a 50+ strong art and design team; some of the industry’s most experienced sales people; and a hive of fresh talent.
We are looking for someone with the drive, ambition, passion, enthusiasm – and contacts and experience – to help us to turn these fantastic assets into news stories, features and column inches. Usborne is lucky to be hugely well respected in the publishing industry and the book trade. We are looking for someone who can help us to maintain this position and who can translate this into increased consumer awareness of our brand.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, dynamic, self-motivated, able to think creatively and a high achiever. It goes without saying that you should be able to get on with – and get the best out of – a wide range of people. You must be passionate about children’s books in general and (of course) Usborne books in particular. You will bring with you strong media contacts across a wide range of outlets, both in print and digital.
This role would suit an experienced publicist who is keen to move into a more strategic role, working at a corporate level as well as on title and author specific campaigns across the entire Usborne list, including baby books, novelty and activity books, fiction and non-fiction.
Reporting to the Director of Global Branding & UK Marketing, this role sits in the UK marketing & publicity team, but requires close contact with colleagues in sales, editorial and senior management.
This is a full-time, permanent role, based in our central London office.
Please send your CV and covering letter via email to Anna Howorth, Director of Global Branding & UK Marketing:
Only successful candidates will be contacted and we regret that no correspondence can be entered into.
