Senior Fiction Designer - Stripes Publishing
£ Competitive (SW London)
Stripes Publishing, the fiction imprint of Little Tiger Group, is looking for a talented Senior Designer with a passion for children's fiction to work on its range of highly accessible and innovative titles for children aged 6-YA. The ideal candidate will have at least four years' design experience and be able to demonstrate creative flair and commercial acumen. This is a permanent position.
Celebrating 10 years, Stripes Publishing has established itself as a publisher of quality fiction. Our list features well-loved authors such as Holly Webb, Alan MacDonald, Guy Bass, Katy Cannon, Linda Chapman and Barry Hutchison, and our illustrators include David Roberts, Lee Robinson, Becka Moor, Jason Cockcroft, Sarah Horne and Katie Abey. We publish a range of highly successful series including Dirty Bertie, Stitch Head, Red Eye and Holly Webb’s Animal Stories, as well as the YA anthologies I’ll Be Home for Christmas and A Change Is Gonna Come.
We are looking for a Designer with at least four years’ experience in Children’s publishing, ideally fiction – series, middle grade, teen and YA. You will be extremely well-organised, highly inventive and have a keen eye for new illustration talent and industry trends. You will be able to show us a library of beautiful and brilliant books that you have designed, and you’ll have a head full of ideas about how you’ll make even better ones. You will be able to effectively and enthusiastically communicate these great ideas within the Stripes team and to the illustrators that you work with. A passion for children’s fiction is, of course, essential.
As a member of our compact art department, you will be required to work on a number of titles simultaneously, taking responsibility for entire books and seeing projects through to print on schedule. You will work across the list, creating stand-out covers for series and standalone titles and design-led insides in mono and in colour, commissioning illustrators and freelancers, preparing files for repro, and liaising with the Art Director, Publisher and our Editorial team to create incredible books – the very best in commercial and child-friendly fiction.
To apply, please email your CV, a covering letter stating your current salary and a link to samples of your best work to Paul Coomey at firstname.lastname@example.org by 9th June 2017.
Early applications will be prioritised.
