SALES EXECUTIVE, OXFORD (Non-Consumer Adult Special Interest Division)
The opportunity
Bloomsbury is a leading international publishing house with sales offices in London, Oxford,
New York, Sydney and New Delhi. We are looking for a full-time Sales Executive to work in our busy sales department in the Oxford office. This is a pivotal role suitable for someone with previous customer service and/or administrative experience, and who has an interest in sales within a publishing environment. We’re looking for someone with an unflappable manner, first-rate organisation skills and experience of manipulating data using Excel and other systems.
The role
To increase UK sales for a selection of Bloomsbury Special Interest imprints (Osprey books and games, yearbooks, business, nautical, sport, Wisden, Green Tree and Reader) through non-traditional markets.
To maintain effective relationships with existing customers and exploit new business opportunities in order to achieve monthly sales targets.
Manage Oxford-based sales assistant.
Skills, knowledge, experience
∙ Excellent organisation and admin skills; processing customer orders, sending out samples and promotional materials, providing admin support to the Sales Director
∙ Maintaining relationships and building sales with existing customers, and researching new ones
∙ Dealing with special offers and promotions, creating sales materials
∙ A professional manner and an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of external customers and internal stakeholders
∙ Negotiating skills; to negotiate trade terms with customers
∙ Excellent customer service skills: processing orders, dealing with customer queries and difficulties
∙ A problem-solving approach and a calm manner

Strong Excel skills and a track record of working with a number of different systems.

The ability to prioritise a demanding workload and work to sales targets

A self-motivated approach and the ability to work well both individually and as part of a team

Liaising with relevant departments, including the UK distributor and Operations team, marketing team and editorial.

This is a permanent, full time role based at the Bloomsbury Publishing office at: Kemp House, Chawley Park, Cumnor Hill, Oxford, OX2 9PH, UK.
