Description: VertebratePub

Description: VertebratePub

About the Job

Vertebrate Publishing is an award-winning independent publisher and the UK’s leading publisher of outdoor adventure books and guides. We publish books to inspire adventure, and it’s our rule that we only publish books that we want to read or use ourselves.
We are looking for a guidebook researcher who is equally keen on the outdoors and books and guides to join our growing team.
The guidebook researcher will gather and present information to the publisher for new titles, create and source guidebook content, and also verify information in books at the production stage. This position is likely to be based in our Sheffield office, with an immediate start; we may consider remote working.
Working under close supervision, the guidebook researcher will use thorough desk research and the company’s contact base to create and provide all the material necessary for a title and highlight where additional resources will be required to bring it to publication.
Once the candidate has introduced appropriate systems and processes there may be scope to build the team through additional research resources.
The successful candidate will have:
a degree in a relevant subject with a real interest in the outdoors
proven research skills, using public and proprietary information
knowledge of current outdoor trends and technology available for planning outdoor adventures, including Google Maps, Strava Heatmaps and open source route sites
a clear, precise and concise written style, ideally with a track record of public work.
Full or part-time (internship considered).
Based in Sheffield or remote working.
Salary and bonus based on experience.
Contract: permanent upon successful completion of a probationary period.
