It might seem like a long way off, but the Frankfurt Book Fair will be with us before we know it. At the IPG we’re getting our collective stands ready for another busy week in Germany—and we’d love you to join us.
Exhibiting at book fairs can be a real hassle, but we aim to make it as easy as possible for you. We build the booths, set out your books and man the stand throughout the fair to greet your visitors and take your messages. Our two stands—one in the trade publishers' hall and one in the academic hall—are always fun and lively places to be, and members tell us they really enjoy their time with us. The stands are great places to share advice with fellow publishers, and they attract visitors from around the world who want to discover the UK’s best independents in one zone.
We appreciate that a trip to Frankfurt isn’t cheap, especially for newer publishers with small budgets and limited international contacts. But the fair is a brilliant route to broadening your horizons, finding new rights and publishing partners and gathering publishing inspiration from around the world. Many IPG members have been growing their sales fast in global markets lately, and for anyone wanting to join them, Frankfurt is a perfect place to start.
And for those short on funds, help is at hand from the Department for International Trade. Its Tradeshow Access Programme provides grants for publishers seeking to identify new markets, and applications are open now. If you are successful you can use grants to exhibit on our stands, and they bring the cost of a Frankfurt visit down substantially. To download a grant application form, click here.
