1 What's your company called?

Royalties Business Solutions.

2 What services or products do you offer?

We offer a royalties outsourcing service ranging from full royalty processing to independent consultancy on aspects of royalties. If you are looking for the best royalty system on the market at the moment or think you can streamline your in-house royalties, then we can help you.

3 How can you help IPG members?

I [Darren Stanton] have ten years’ experience working with independent publishers, coupled with more than a decade of music industry knowledge. We are perfectly placed to advise and assist in the royalty process for all IPG members.

4 What do you enjoy about working in publishing?

Publishing is an excellent industry to work in. The creativity of authors and illustrators, as well as people like cover designers and editorial staff, is extraordinary. I love being connected with a creative industry, even though my day-to-day work is far from creative.

5 What do you think is the single biggest opportunity and the single biggest threat for independent publishers right now?

Personally I think all artistic industries are finding it tough in today’s market. The internet has brought both opportunities and challenges, but I believe if independent publishers concentrate on what they excel at they will be able to compete with the multinationals and keep producing content that will inform and thrill readers.

6 What do you get out of belonging to the IPG?

Being part of the IPG means that you have a wealth of knowledge at your disposal. I don’t think there is a question that could come up that someone connected to the IPG has not had to deal with in the past, and that knowledge is shared on a daily basis. All of the components of the IPG are stronger because of it.
