What achievement are you most proud of this year and how will you be celebrating it over the festive break?

Valerie Brandes, founder and publisher, Jacaranda Books Art Music Ltd

When you are a small outfit such as we are at Jacaranda you find yourself being able to pull off minor miracles on a daily basis. Mostly these are cause for anxiety and rising stress levels, but sometimes things work out that leave a feeling of immense pride and happiness. The one that makes us most proud this year is the sight of our two big summer novels From Pasta to Pigfoot and Butterfly Fish being available in major retail outlets nationwide. Fans of Jacaranda were sending us photographic “sightings” of our books at the airport or train stations as they travelled and the office was abuzz with a sense of accomplishment.
This holiday season I intend to become one with my couch. We need to become reacquainted, as I have been deeply neglectful, my entire waking life being dedicated to building this company. A steady diet of good reads and mince pies and our office dog Bailey firmly ensconced on my chest, it promises to be a great one!
