We are thrilled to unveil the programme for our 2018 Annual Spring Conference and warmly invite you to join us from 7 to 9 March.

Our Conference is one of the biggest, friendliest and most valuable events of the year in publishing. It offers the chance to get away from the office and spend time in the company of your fellow IPG members, learning from a host of experts and equipping yourself with ideas and inspiration to make your business even better.

Whether you have been coming to the Conference for years or will be attending for the first time, you can be sure of a warm welcome and a very stimulating few days. Here are ten reasons to join us.

1. Big-name keynotes
Headlining our Conference this year is one of the most significant political figures of recent times: Ken Clarke MP. A major cabinet player in numerous roles and an MP for nearly five decades, he will be discussing the opportunities and challenges for SMEs, the future of the creative industries and Brexit. Our second keynote comes from the BBC’s media editor Amol Rajan, who will give us an expert overview of the media and communications landscape and consider where our industry might be headed.

2. Compelling speakers on topical issues
A wide range of speakers from our industry and beyond will address some of the most topical themes in publishing. The Conference will have big-picture sessions on major emerging opportunities in audio and Artificial Intelligence (AI), plus guides to design and productivity. There will be talks on the fundamentals of publishing too, including advice on leveraging content and reinvigorating brands. Along the way we will have case studies from successful IPG members from start-ups to established players, plus a session on what independents might learn from corporate publishers.

3. Meet the retailers and experts
*New at the Conference for 2018* is a programme of speed-dating-style opportunities to meet some of the UK’s best booksellers and publishing experts—including Amazon, Gardners, Kobo, Waterstones, Ingram, Ingenta, BDS, BookBub, the Department for International Trade and Thomson-Shore.

4. Brilliant break-outs
Our break-out sessions dedicated to different aspects of publishing are among the most popular aspects of the Annual Spring Conference. This year trade and specialist publishers can enjoy break-outs providing tips on building publishing brands and exploring opportunities in non-specialist areas of book retail. On the academic, professional and education side we will have sessions on current challenges, growing sales, the US market and library trends.

5. Top training
From sharpening up your rights, metadata and business planning to mastering social media and e-newsletters, a choice of training sessions on the Wednesday morning of the Conference will give you valuable tools to improve your operations.

6. Superb networking
Our Conference is the perfect place to meet old friends in independent publishing and make new contacts, and our lunches, dinners and refreshment breaks will provide ample time to network and socialise. *New for 2018* we will have a dedicated Conference app to maximise networking opportunities.

You can meet some of publishing’s top suppliers in our Exhibitors’ Zone too, including Conference gold sponsor Ingram and fellow sponsors and exhibitors, listed below.

7. Subsidised tickets for 30 IPG publishers
We do all we can to make the Conference affordable to members, and by comparison to other industry events we hope our prices represent great value. You can explore the range of ticket options here. We are also pleased to offer 30 subsidised places for IPG publishers: 20 from the IPG Conference Endowment Fund and 10 from the Ingram Conference Endowment Fund. You can click here for the IPG Endowment Fund and here for the Ingram Endowment Fund.

8. The Independent Publishing Awards
The Thursday night of the Conference brings the 12th annual IPG Independent Publishing Awards. Enter the Awards now for your chance to be among the winners at this prestigious celebration of independent publishing.

9. A great venue
Our Conference returns in 2018 to the Crowne Plaza Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire. It’s a modern and comfortable hotel with outstanding Conference facilities and lovely grounds, and if you intend to come by train we have a free bus service to and from the hotel; details on booking.

10. A seat at the heart of publishing
It’s a jam-packed programme, and we do hope you will join us for what promises to be a wonderful few days together in March. Secure your place by booking online on this page, where you can also book for colleagues. If you have any queries, please drop us a line or call us on 01437 563335.

Hi there. I just want to add one ticket to the dinner for Gail Lynch please. That would be x 2 tickets in total.
