Library supply

These may include special bindings, inserting ticket pockets inside the front or back cover, and researching out-of-print or foreign titles. They may also ‘profile’ a library client, getting to know in which subjects collections are being built up. The library supplier then searches databases and publishers' information about all newly published titles in those subjects. They are brought to the attention of the relevant librarian, sometimes by shipping the actual books automatically, but then accepting returns if the library does not want to purchase them. Sending information to library suppliers in overseas markets, particularly about academic and professional titles, is very important, as they are often the main purchasers of books in English in their country.
