James Clarke & Co, publisher of academic theology, and it's sister imprint The Lutterworth Press, publisher of general non-fiction, are independent publishers located in Cambridge and witha long history of distinguished publishing including genres such as religious studies, biographies and history among others.
James Clarke & Co. are looking for a full-time new starter to share the responsibility of a busy Sales and Publicity department. Working as part of a small, two-person team, the chosen applicant will gain a variety of experience from events management to insights into bibliographic data handling as well as traditional sales and publicity roles. This is a valuable opportunity for someone looking to get a start in publishing, offering an excellent combination of responsibilities and experiences with this small and friendly publishing house. The role would most suit someone who can show initiative and has an interest in publishing or sales.
Salary: National Living Wage
Key responsibilities include:
•Contacting retailers, academic institutions and relevant societies about new and forthcoming titles
•Writing press releases
•Researching, selecting titles for, and attending academic conferences
•Arranging book launches
•Building relationships with authors
•Maintaining company PR through our newsletter and the company social media pages
•Publication schedule management
•Sharing accurate bibliographic information and updates
•Securing reviews and promotional opportunities for forthcoming releases and coordinating the sending of review copies
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is preferred but not essential as is an interest in theology.
