Finola Billings
As a recent first-class English and Creative Writing graduate of the University of Nottingham, I am now seeking work experience, internships, and/or entry level roles in the publishing industry. I am a self-motivated, creative and articulate individual with experience both in and out of the publishing sector.
Since gaining some initial work experience with the mental-health publisher, Trigger Press, I am keen to develop my publishing skills further. After becoming a Print Futures Award Winner this year, I have taken on courses in Proofreading, Essential Grammar and Creative Copywriting through the Publishing Training Centre. On top of this, I also have experience working as a Marketing and Communications Assistant for a start-up company in Nottingham, as well as working as a Marketing and Media Sales Assistant for the University of Derby’s Union of Students. Therefore, I welcome the challenge of a wide range of positions - from editorial and copywriting, to sales, marketing and publicity. Plus, if you require an extra helping hand with your metadata, I also spent some time working as an SEO Assistant during my time studying abroad in Germany.
It is my hope that this brief overview of my experiences provides you with a sense of my well-rounded nature, professionalism and commitment to my future career in the publishing industry. I would be delighted if you could get in touch with me to discuss any opportunities you have available, or even if you can simply spare some time to offer some helpful career guidance tips over a coffee. You can contact me at or on 07443432824. Please do also let me know if you would like to see my full CV and feel free to check out my LinkedIn page, too.

Tim Pearce
I am winding down after a 40-year career in Publishing print production and stock control, half that time as a self-employed consultant. However, I still have plenty to offer to small publishers with no production expertise who are looking to grow. My most recent role was with Rising Stars, a KS1/2 educational publisher. Over a period of 10 years I helped them to grow into a multi-million pound publisher, ultimately acquired by Hodder Education, part of Hachette UK. In my role as Production and Operations Manager I was key to maintaining the company's profitability and viability during difficult economic times, marrying low cost of sales with a very high stock turn.
I have wide-ranging expertise in digital and conventional print in markets both domestic and overseas, with an extensive range of contacts built up over many years. I can be contacted on 07432742209 or at

I am a graduate looking for opportunities for experience and/or work within the publishing industry. I already possess skills and experience which would be beneficial within this sphere. My particular strengths lie in my organisation and close attention to detail, along with a high level of computer literacy. Further, my reading and writing skills are of a high standard, having graduated with a 2:1 in History and English from Leeds University, and subsequently honed these within a professional setting, working as an administrator at a solicitors' firm. I now wish to use my degree to pursue a career in publishing as this marries my existing skill-set with my desire to work within a creative industry. Without creativity there is no progress, and publishing is a medium for this progress, whilst at the same time being an industry in flux, and therefore a subject of progress itself. I have already gained a measure of editing/proof-reading experience on a community print periodical, during which time I developed an understanding of the process of getting a written product ready for print and distribution within constraints of time and quality. I am looking for opportunities for employment or experience in order to make use of, and improve, these abilities, to gain new skills, and to deepen my understanding of the publishing industry. I would consider my strengths to lie towards editing/proof-reading/writing copy, but am open to any and all opportunities, as I am young and flexible and a fast learner. If you can offer such an opportunity, or know of anyone who might, I would be most grateful if you could contact me via my email,, or pass on my details.
