Positions sought

Below you can view profiles of those seeking positions in the publishing industry.
Ilan Fertig
I am a graduate looking for opportunities for experience and/or work within the publishing industry. I already possess skills and experience which would be beneficial within this sphere. My particular strengths lie in my organisation and close attention to detail, along with a high level of computer literacy. Further, my reading and writing skills are of a high standard, having graduated with a 2:1 in History and English from Leeds University, and subsequently honed these within a professional setting, working as an administrator at a solicitors' firm. I now wish to use my degree to pursue a career in publishing as this marries my existing skill-set with my desire to work within a creative industry. Without creativity there is no progress, and publishing is a medium for this progress, whilst at the same time being an industry in flux, and therefore a subject of progress itself. I have already gained a measure of editing/proof-reading experience on a community print periodical, during which time I developed an understanding of the process of getting a written product ready for print and distribution within constraints of time and quality. I am looking for opportunities for employment or experience in order to make use of, and improve, these abilities, to gain new skills, and to deepen my understanding of the publishing industry. I would consider my strengths to lie towards editing/proof-reading/writing copy, but am open to any and all opportunities, as I am young and flexible and a fast learner. If you can offer such an opportunity, or know of anyone who might, I would be most grateful if you could contact me via my email,, or pass on my details.

Georgina Varley
I am a hardworking, punctual, articulate and precise student currently reading English at The University of Nottingham. As well as studying, I also work as a Copy Editor for Her Campus Nottingham. My current role as Copy Editor involves editing 2-5 articles per week from 7 writers, which builds on the skills that I learnt at The Stage where I received editorial work experience in 2012. Outside of term time I enjoy working as a part-time Sales Assistant at my local bookshop, a position which I have held since 2011. I am also very proactive, my play ‘Letting Go’ won a competition in 2012/2013 after which it successfully gained a position within Nottingham New Theatre’s Autumn Fringe Season. I was responsible for not only casting but also directing the play, which achieved a 4 Star review from Impact Magazine. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to gain experience in either the editorial department or the sales department of a publishing group during the summer of 2015. If you can offer such an opportunity, I would be grateful if you could contact me via my email,
